TODAY IS A VERY SPECIAL DAY.

This day last year, I opened up my internet browser and google-searched my favorite band of the moment. When I clicked on the first link of results, I was brought to this website, completely unfamiliar. After a few hours of checking it out, I finally decided to sign up. Since then, I have definitley broadened my taste in music, learned a lot about many things, felt very awesome because I always got the ~inside scoop on the "music scene", stayed in contact with friends from all over the world (and even met some in person that live close to me! *cough, yesterday, cough*), became very interested in photography, and many other things as the list goes on and on. This is seriously the best place on the interwebz and I can't think of anything out there that's more awesome. Uh, this was a very cheesy ramble.

Answers! Yay!

Squirrelovingsydney: what would you do if a magical refridgerator flew into your room what would you wish for?

SHIT SON. PARTY TIME! A magical fridge? OH MAH GAH. Like, food all the time. My mouth is watering as I type.

Well, I always wish at 11:11 (AM, jsyk) and sometimes, I wish for big things if they're on my mind, but other times, I'll simply wish for a good day. :)

Notthedesperatetype: Harry Potter or Draco Malfoy?
(long story behind why I'm asking that xP)

OMG WTF STORY?! And I'm not a HP fan, but I guess I'll say Harry Potter haha. :)

notxalone: if you could only watch one tv show for the rest of your life what would you watch? a tv show, not a channel.

I...don't watch TV. I mean, like once a year I do, haha, but I just never watch TV regularly.  But I should totally throw something ridiculous out there, like 16 and Pregnant. LOL girlgavebirthoncameraomg.

Futile Assayer: Does it annoy you when people sing along when your favourite band is playing or do you find it annoying (especially if you are taking a video and the audio gets warped)??

Well, I usually never take pictures or videos at shows. In fact, I usually don't bring a camera. I go to shows to mainly enjoy the music, so I'm actually that freak who's singing along and ruining other people's videos. Hahaha..um.

Jamie: if you could have one superband composed of all your favourite individual musicians (favourite drummer, guitarist, etc) who would it be made up of?

It would be a one person musical act and his name would be Sisky Biz.

But to take your question seriously:

Vocals- Danny Stevens (The Audition)

Guitar- Jack Barakat (All Time Low)

Guitar- Chad Gilbert (New Found Glory)

Bass- Sisky Biz (The Academy Is...)

Drums- (k)nate Young (Anberlin) [For those unaware, the spelling is an inside-ish joke.]

We could only hope that they could form a superband together without killing each other in the process.

vikkivendetta: Your biggest fear?

All bugs. Killer bees. And death in general. I'm lame and I could actually make a list, but for now, that's all I can think of.

If you could chose one band to compose a playlist of their songs, who would it be?

I'm not quite sure if I get what you're saying. :( Like, a band to make a playlist of their favorite songs, as in, songs they haven't written and songs they listen to on a daily basis? Or like, songs that the band has written. :| LOL sorry...

Favorite song and why?

Oh my. I honestly like so many songs that I DON'T have a favorite song of all time. I'll have to get back to you on this one.

Do you think reality tv is a waste of time, or do you think it is awesome?

I think I've addressed this a couple times already, but I don't really watch TV. Not like, I'm overly sheltered and not allowed to watch TV, or like I have some weird hatred for TV and I threw the cable box out the window or something, I just never find myself watching TV. So I don't know if I could come up with a good answer. But for the most part, shows like The Real World and whoknowswhat on MTV do irk me slightly. A lot of those shows are made up of irresponsible bratty kids around my age or just a little older, and I don't like that there are people like that out in the open who can easily influence people like me. Because f'reals, they must've heavily influenced some of the girls in my school. >=O (Okay, now I'm just babbling.)

cobrannxawesome: If you could make any book into a movie, what would it be?
AND what character would you play?
Because... You ARE iiiin the movie! :D

OOOOOHHHH. Well, I was going to say Paper Towns, but OMGGUESSWHAT. It's being made into a movie already! I don't read that much, errrr, so I don't really know what to say. :(

PS. I would never want to be in a movie. Haha.

xcollapsingcities: Ummmmm, Do you believe that we actually landed on the moon?
OOORR, What era would you most like ta live in?

We must have landed on the moon, because we have people with no values running around screaming their scrunk tunes. Those must be the aliens.

I would like to live in, uh, right now I suppose. I kind of like having an iPod and all this crazy technology and shit at my fingertips. But otherwise, probably like, the 50's or 60's. I don't know why, I just like that era a lot. Especially when I see it in movies.

Also, do you watch rugby?

Negative.

Likenooneslistening: If someone made a movie about your life, what would the title be? What would the soundtrack consist of?

It would be called: The Soundtrack of Claire and All Things Awesome. I have no idea about the songs, except for that 50% of them would probably be No Doubt songs. :)

Breatheforlove: if you were a jellybean which flavor would you be and why?

I would be something that's very nommy and a cool color at the same time. I don't know why.

What is the proudest moment of your life thus far?

There are SO many. I mean, I've sung in Carengie Hall and The Sydney Opera House, I've gotten 1st ratings at state solo and ensemble when I was only 14, I ran 5 miles the other day... I'm constantly doing cool things that make me proud of myself.

Favorite breakfast food?

I'm not allowed to eat sugary cereal at home, so anything along the lines of Coco Puffs, Lucky Charms, that one Reeces kind, um, and anything that's so unhealthy you often question why you eat it for breakfast.

Otherwise, eggs and 'taters are fantastic. :)

Just kidding, I give up.

I'm quitting my 365 project. All of my photos from here on out are just photos. I can't keep up with this dang project, and I feel like I'm taking crappy photos sometimes just to make my daily post.

BUT ON ANOTHER NOTE:

I feel like doing a question and answer session. Pick my brain. Ask me whatever you'd like. You can be totally serious, or super goofy. Ask as much as you want, I don't care. Once I get enough, I'll journal about it.

Goodnight!

-Claire

Wuddddupppp.

Sorry I pretty much left last minute. Well, my leave wasn't last minute, I went to camp for a week, but I failed to inform you all. I'm back now, really kinda tired, and feeling like, bleh. I took some pictures, but my camera died during the week, so I don't have that many.

I will also post as many photos as I can to keep up with my 365 project. I almost considered giving up, because when I leave for long periods of time it becomes very difficult to continue. But this is something that I really want to finish. I've seen a few people on Buzznet complete 365 projects, and it's really cool. (I'm only in the 40s of photos. Sigh.)

If anything really important happened this week that I need to know, help me out. Please and thank you.

-Claire :)

July 9, 2009

Oh man, Warped is going to freaking rule this year.

Yeah, the lineup isn't too fantastic, but GUESS WHAT?

My parents' friend's son is doing sound on the Skull Candy Stage this year, and is traveling all across the country following the tour. He is able to get my sister and I these special wristbands that allow us into special areas and backstage (except not the main stage, but I would expect that). It also includes my admission, so, I am going to attempt to sell my ticket to a friend. (As that epic No Doubt concert sucked me completely dry of ze dollarz.)

Oh, so I thought too that I'd share another one of my previous Warped Tour memories, since I owe you guys another decent blog. (If you haven't read the first blog, you can find that here.)

Warped Tour Memory #2- Claire sees an Every Avenue acoustic set, up close and personal.

Okay, so I didn't plan this out too well, (the whole weekly blog thing) so I don't have much to say. FAIL. I'm so sorry. But, this even comes right after the described event in my first blog.

I SWEARZ, my camera was not zoomed in at all. I was so close to Mr. Joshua Randall that it was a little creepy.

BASICALLY, my sister (at least at the time) was a hee-uge fan of Every Avenue. She told me all about them, and even let me borrow her copy of their cd. I listened to it on and off, but never really liked it that much. (I really only found myself listening to This One's A Cheap Shot) After seeing them live and electric, man, I was freakin' blown away. I was about second row seeing them, and it was so cool. I had officially been won over.

I meet Travis from We The Kings (I will not let you forget it! Ha!). I freak out. Then my sister says: "hey, we gotta catch that acoustic set!"

We got there SUPER EARLY. It was awkward. Really awkward. It was at this Skull Candy tent (Turtleshells represent!) and this one DJ was there, blastin' his tunes, trying to act cool. Pshh. It was really loud, and we were standing around right in front of the speaker. I was not enjoying the moment.

Eventually, we see about 80% of Every Avenue wander in. It was cool. I was being a total douche and trying to take pictures of them. I wanted to be like, "ohai, look here and smile! photo-op! omg!" but that was beyond levels of awful and lame.

We also saw Charlotte Sometimes. We creeped.

HAHAHAHA THIS IS AWKWARD.

Since we got there early, we were garunteed good spots. But nothing prepared us for a guy inviting us to take about 3 steps into the tent and park our butts on the ground. Ohai EA, I can see up your noses. Ew.

Prior to playing, this really creepy super obsessed fangirl who was sitting next to me picks up a stray can of Warped water, looks Sir Joshua Randall in the eyes and says: "IS THIS YOUR WATER?"

Well, he just gives her that mighty attractive grin of his and says "It's yours now!"

She started sniffing the can and holding it close to her face. I wanted to cry out of awkward uncomfortableness and slight fear.

Once the set started, a TON of people piled in. I was not prepared for this. I looked behind me and was like WHOA. I also felt especially bad because I wasn't probably up to the ~true fan~ standards, and didn't know every word to sing along. I tried so hard to look like I knew the songs, for example, when they were singing Think Of You Later (Empty Room):

EA and the general public: Think of you later in my empty room, when I-iiii, I-iiiii, will fall asleep alone.

Claire, at the same time: blah blah blah mumble mumble mumble mumble I-iiiii, I-iiiii, blah blah mumble mumble.

I felt almost undeserving of my great spot. Oh well. It was still awesome.

Afterwards, they held a brief signing, and it was so...awkward. I kinda just held a magazine in my hand and stuck my arm through the masses around the tent until it was signed. They signed this little piece of paper, and it's extremely pathetic. But it still has a spot on my wall. :)

THE END.

OH, and I have..."photographer's block?" lol, what a term. I haz absolutley NO idea for today, so hopefully, two posts tomorrow to make up for it.

July 7, 2009

I need to ask a HUGE favor.

I have been slowly building my "job" of giving area kids music lessons over the past year, and my mom has been nagging me to make a flyer to try and get more students. No matter how much I try, I can't make anything look good.

CAN ANYONE MAKE ME A FLYER? If you're interested, I can message you the information.

PLEASE AND THANK YOU!

-Claire

Fueled By Ramen recording group Paramore has announced details of their hugely anticipated new album. "brand new eyes" will land in stores and at all online retailers on September 29th.

Produced by Grammy Award-winner Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Kid Rock, My Chemical Romance) and co-produced by the band, "brand new eyes" is the long-awaited follow-up to 2007's RIAA platinum certified second album, "RIOT!" The 11-track collection is unquestionably Paramore's best and brightest album to date, fit to burst with all the exuberant melodies, breathless hooks, and irrepressible energy that has made the Nashville-based band one of the most popular rock outfits in recent memory (see attached tracklisting).

"brand new eyes" will be preceded by the first single, "Ignorance," which is slated to hit Alternative Rock outlets nationwide in early July. A digital single will be available via all DSPs on July 7th. A companion video for "Ignorance" is now in pre-production and will premiere in August.

The "brand new eyes" deluxe version will come packaged in an extraordinary special edition box and will only be available via www.paramore.net.

The #1 most trafficked website across all Warner Music Group artists, and the official home for all things Paramore, www.paramore.net, will be completely renovated to celebrate the release of "brand new eyes," with a major relaunch slated for July 28th.

Paramore is currently introducing fans to some of their new material as the main support act on No Doubt's eagerly awaited reunion tour. The North American trek is criss-crossing the continent now, culminating in a three-night finale at Irvine, California's Verizon Wireless Amphitheater on July 31st, August 1st, and August 2nd (see attached itinerary). Upon the tour's conclusion, Paramore will perform at the Summer Sonic Festival in Japan before embarking on their own U.S. headline tour, slated to hit smaller clubs and ballrooms across the country as a special celebration for their fervent fan following. They will then return to mainland Europe and the United Kingdom for a headline tour. Full details will be announced shortly.

In addition, Paramore are also set to star in their own edition of MTV Unplugged. The band will film the acoustic performance at a New York City studio later this month, with an airdate currently planned for mid-September (check local listings).

K SRSLY PARAMORE, why must you have an extremely expensive tour, then turn around and let me drool over an expensive cd preorder that I will never be able to afford? KTHNKS. Like, really, I wasn't feeling that bad about just going out and buying the new album, but after looking at this, I am a little irked. That's an AWESOME cd preorder, and I'll never come up with the money in time. FML FML FML.

I am so completely pumped for a small club tour. That's probably the only chance I'd get at being able to see a band like them front and center.

SO HAI GUISE, I iz jelus of you if you're getting the preorder. So freakin' jealous.

July 3, 2009

A real love survives, a rock steady vibe. (7-2-2009)

OH. MAH. GAH. THIS NIGHT CAN NOT BE PUT INTO WORDS. (Well, it can be, because I'm blogging about it.) I want to go to this concert every day for the rest of my life.

So, I arrive at Summerfest about 3 hours before the concert starts.

SO MANY FREAKIN' FAYLEYS WALKIN' AROUND. IT WAS AWFUL. (And they were wearing shirts that said PARAMORE in big letters and with No Doubt written under it in very tiny letters. SOME PEOPLE need to get their facts straight and show some respect, yo!)

My friend makes a beeline (No, not literally, if you got the Dane Cook reference) to the US Cellular stage, because she knows from past years that this is where all the "emerging rock artists" perform. She saw Sing It Loud there, in their pre-fame days! So, we sit and watch this one band, Holding Mercury. They are amazing. Afterwards, we met their singer/guitarist, who I might add, is extremely attractive.

(Please ignore the fact that I look like a douche.)

Then, since I have been here ONCE before, (for Warped Tour) I KNOW that there is a Chipoltle around those parts. I am determined. Sadly, I failed, and ended up with nasty, but still expensive, Mexican food. Buhhhh. Not to mention, afterwards, WE FIND THE CHIPOLTLE.

So, it finally comes time to walk to the ampitheatre for the concert. (OMGOMG.) We hear people yelling over and over again that there will be NO cameras allowed in, and we're just like, frozen for a minute and our faces are like WUT. But we did not let that stop us. My friend took her tampon box that was in her bag, dumped the tampons out, and hid TWO CAMERAS inside. YEAHHHHHDUDE. The security man was slightly suspicious, he was like, YOU IZ GUNNA STABZ GWEN ER SUMTHIN, UR BAGZ IZ HEAVY. He honestly asked my friend if she had a weapon with her.

So we walk into the ampitheatre, and there is NO PIT. NONE. Seats all the way up to the front row. LAAAAAMEEE LAME LAME LAME LAME. And I was much farther back then I thought. I was about halfway into the second seated section, which was covered. All in all, I was about halfway between the stage, and the very last person sitting in the very back on the lawn.

BEDOUIN SOUNDCLASH

I was really pumped about these guys opening, since I really like them. No one else really seemed to care, and I was extremely bummed by this fact. At this point in the show, people were still walking in, and no one was standing. At all. They played St. Andrews, which is one of my favorite songs by them, ever. I sang just about all the words, but while sitting in my seat. I felt farther away, because the stage was really small. The stage has all these curtains set up, and they just kept peeling layers off, almost. So by the time No Doubt came on, the stage was huge. But these guys- the space they had was about the size of my bedroom. Oh well, I really enjoyed the set. And APPARENTLY, no one else did. They just kind of made for walking in music. Buhhhhhhh. My friend left during the set to go buy merch, and she retruns and says:

CLAIRE I GOT YOU SOMETHING!

I've concluded that this shirt must have been custom made to fit Gwen's ridiculous figure, so if you're getting it, buy it a size (or even two!) larger than normal.

My wall just got 10 times awesomer. This sits right above NFG and the blank spot where my ATL poster (that's currently being shipped to mah homez) will go.

:D

Upon her return, Bedouin Soundclash is off, and I spied the occasional Zac Farro, Jeremy Davis, and Josh Farro. Possibly a Taylor York too. Once the backdrop is revealed, all these little 12 year olds start screaming. I have to admit though, it looked awesome. Even from far away.

PARAMORE

Not going to lie, I screamed and squealed like a true fan. My friend, who had made it clear that Paramore was the main reason she was there, was dancing and singing along like crazy. I didn't move around much, but I did sing. I don't have much to say about their set, I mean, it was good, but it was still light outside (despite how the pictures might have turned out) and people were still walking around. Not a lot of people were standing, but hey, they ARE an opening act. Nonetheless, I liked their set. It was perfect.

And I must recreate my favorite moment, which has always been something I've wanted to experience live in my entire life- Hayley's famous words:

"Well, Milwaukee, just in case you didn't know, or, perhaps, you might have forgotten! I don't know, it happens sometimes. I just wanted to let you know, that, on this day, in Milwaukee Wisconsin, at Summerfest, in 2009....

My friends....

WE!

ARE!

PARRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAMORRRREEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(LOL, she had me on the tip of my toes, she couldn't have possibly delayed that any longer. Like, after each comma, you need to add a 5 second pause.)

I loved how at the end of Misery Business, she just said, "Thank you". Very calmly, instead of like, screaming it while out of breath. It was kind of funny.

Also, Hayley was wearing her shirt with the suspenders on it, and I almost thought it was the ND shirt I had gotten. It wasn't. (But I may or may not know that OMGGWENSTEFANI has the same one.)

(Setlist in NO particular order): Misery Business, That's What You Get, For A Pessimist I'm Pretty Optimistic, Decoy, Decode, Where The Lines Overlap (Hayley played piano for about 10 seconds, and it was awwweeeesssoommmeeeee), Ignorance, Pressure, Let The Flames Begin (OMG, so when they started playing this, me and my friend started arguing over what song it was. She kept insisting it was Fences, even after I had sung LET THE FLAMES BEGIN in her face. It was so funny when she realized she was way off!), When It Rains, Crush Crush Crush.

I was also OFFICIALLY informed of the new album name, and the release date. Hayley tells us that it comes out on Josh's birthday, and says that it's plain rude if we don't buy it.

OKAY, SO OMG, during Let The Flames Begin and some other songs, I totally saw 2 No Doubt babies (Kingston being one of them!) dancing together to the the song sidestage with their massive earplugs/headphones on. SOOOOOO FREAKKINGGGGGG CUUUUUTTEEE.

NO DOUBT

So, it was a long wait for their set. I could see the white riserish thing being set up, and I could see the occasional band member walk around. And man, I really had to pee. Like really. I'm just about to get up and leave the ampitheatre when all of a sudden the lights go off and I'm just OMGILLJUSTPEEMYPANTSINSTEAD!

There was this giant white curtain covering the stage, except I could sorta see around it since I was way off to the side. NO DOUBT FREAKING APPEARED IN SHADOW FORM. Gwen kept dancing around for what seemed like the longest time, ever.

Then, the curtain fell, AND OMG I FREAKING SCREAMED AND JUMPED UP AND DOWN LIKE A 12 YEAR OLD. OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG  OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

O

M

G

!

They opened with Spiderwebs, and from that point on, for the entire concert, I danced like a fool. I literally did not stop moving for the next two and a half hours.

I have never screamed so loud and so much in my entire life. Ever. Right now, my throat is so swollen and sore, and I feel like I'm drinking knives. (LOL I'll stop making DC references.)

(Ohai outfit change!)

GWEN IS SUCH A SWEET PERSON. Not sweet, like, awesome, (but that she is!), but like, so freakin' genuinely nice. There was a guy in the front section (damn him, I wanted to be where he was) and he was holding up a sign that said "Living The Dream". Gwen reads it out loud and then said "Hey, that's what I'm doing!" and then she invited him up on stage, gave him a hug, and took a picture with him, totes ~myspace style~.

SETLIST: (I can't remember the order. At all. I have no idea how you people do that.)

Hella Good

I squealed and freaked out when I heard them start this song. IT IS SO FREAKING EPIC LIVE.

Excuse Me Mr.

Ex-Girlfriend

This was one of the songs that they actually played the music video on a screen behind them while it was being performed!

Simple Kind Of Life

Bathwater

This was one of three songs I called my friend during, and at some point I just screamed into the phone: OMG I DONT KNOW IF YOU CAN HEAR THIS, BUT OMG THIS IS SO AWESOME AHHHHHH.

And somewhere in about the exact middle of No Doubt's set, Gwen also invited three other girls up on stage and took pictures with them. It was so cute- the song was about to start and she's like "Ah! Hurry!"

(Right around after this song, they played an interlude and introduced each other. I think I screamed the loudest when Tony was introduced, haha. If not Tony, then I definitley screamed and cheered when Gwen was introduced. I thought I was going to seriously projectile vomit my lungs out my mouth. OHMYLANTA that would hurt so bad, and I don't even think it's possible.)

New

Hey Baby

Underneath It All

Running

OMG, they had a video montage from the past going while this was being played. People busted out their lighters for this one as well.

Different People

Don't Speak

It's My Life

So, while this was being played, I totally went back in my mind to that one day in bio class when I was listening to this on my ipod thinking of how epic this would sound live, and how sad I was because I was almost set on not being able to go. I almost cried from excessive happiness/not being able to handle the awesomeness of No Doubt being a football field's length away from me.

As ND fans, we are very obedient of what ND instructs us to do. The entire arena was seriously off their feet (except for my friends' parents and these douchey old guys in front of us) the whole show. I was jumping around so much that I fell into one of the chairs in front of me. My leg is bruised, but man, that bruise is like a freaking badge of honor.

Just A Girl

OMG. OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG. K, WHY DOES THIS SONG HAVE TO BE SO AMAZING? So, during the song, Gwen says: I want all of the boys to sing with me: I'm Just A Girl! I totally got my guy friend who was there to scream the words. Then, when it was the girls' turn, Gwen said: "Sing, I'm just a girl...from WISCONSIN!" And I was like screaming IIIII'MMMM JUUSSSTTT A GIRRRLLLL FRROMMM WISCONSINNNNNN!!!!!!

ENCORE:

Rock Steady

More lighters.

STAND AND DELIVER

OH MY FREAKING GOODNESS THAT WAS THE COOLEST PERFORMANCE OF A SONG THAT I WILL EVER SEE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. And yes, the singer from Bedouin Soundclash does perform with everyone just as the singer from The Sounds did, in case you were wondering. He is quite good.

Sunday Morning

I seriously did not want the concert to end. Like, No Doubt, could you please just play music all night KTHNKS? But sadly, all good things must come to an end.

As we were on our way out of the ampitheatre, my friends are saying how they knew about 2 or 3 No Doubt songs, and I just start babbling about how I have every song and every cd. Some girl, who must have been at least 10 years older than me looks at me and smiles, and gives me a thumbs up. She says "I remember when I was 12 years old, and Gwen had first started making her own clothes, I did too. She's like, it." And I swear she couldn't have said that better. We also excitedly chatted about some of our favorite No Doubt songs, and how we both wished they would have played Big Distraction, or just The Beacon Street Collection in it's entirety.

As we were walking out of the ampitheatre, we passed the bus area, and I saw Jeremy riding around on his bike, and I'm pretty sure I saw Hayley over in the corner. The only thing that makes the Marcus Ampitheatre so completely douchey is that the bus area is totally unaccessible. Unless you were to jump through a shrubbery, which is just plain creepy. (I swear, the busses must have to drive through a tunnel that starts in the next state over to get to this area.) A lot of people were leaning over the bridge/ampitheatre exit and just creeping on the bands. We tried to look for like 2 seconds, but left. We will never know what became of that, I mean, who knows, if I had stayed longer, I totally would have thrown stuff down for them to sign. I totally put Riot! and AWKIF in my backpack as I left home, you know, JUSTINCASE. *sigh*

All in all, this is a night that I will remember for the rest of my life.
