My dorm room!
I'm already settling in for my second year of college, but before I begin resident assistant training which lasts the next two weeks I wanted to be all moved in and have all of my decorations up. I always like, completely pride myself on the way my room looks and I've been that way since I was 14 and listened to rock music.

This part probably took the longest. I knew I wanted to have a really cool lyric on my wall and show off some photos from shows I've been to. I picked "I will never lose my youth, all of this is too unforgettable" from The Fallen by Set Your Goals because honestly, I think it is perfect. So far, I only have photos from the two Warped Tours this summer up there, but the wall is still kind of empty because the goal is to add more photos from shows I go to this year.

I'm living in a house again this year, like last year, but this house was not rennovated before it was converted into a dorm so it still feels very much like a house. And I love it. So even the closet door, my bedroom door.... everything. I actually feel like I live in a house, and not a dorm inside of a house.

The best thing about my room this year is that I DON'T HAVE A ROOMMATE!!!! Like I've said, I'm the RA (resident assistant), so I'm currently here before everyone else, and I get to have my own room for free. Of course, there's a lot of responsibilities that go with that privilege, heh. Things that I like about this set up: the space! There's so much space. SPAAAAACCCCEEEE. I have room for my piano and I'm not tripping over anything. There's three sets of shelves, when I only had one last year.

My desk probably won't stay this clean once classes start... but I'll still work on that. Again, having all the extra shelves helps SO MUCH. Not to mention, the shelves already had that checkered pattern when I moved in. I'm not complaining.
So hopefully, you can get a sense of what my room is like and where I'll be living for the next year! Not having air conditioning is totally okay, since I have everything else. Except, there was a wasp in my room last night and I'm kind of just not thinking about that....
The only other thing I'll mention, which I find helpful for anyone going off to college this year, is that I'll be making an effort to keep my room CLEAN. Not just tidy, but like, clean. I purchased a really small vacuum at target that was fairly inexpensive and also got some Clorox wipes, just so maybe once or twice a week I can make sure my room is for the most part not super germy and the floor is clean. I also always keep at least once window open just a little bit and I have an air freshener plugged in to get rid of the musty dorm smell.
Even though I lucked out this year in so many ways, you can still make your dorm really comfortable and your own space and I encourage everyone to do that. Even when you're having a bad day or have tons of homework to do, the least you can do is come back to your home away from home to find the walls plastered with your favorite bands and pictures of your family and friends. A lot of what I used to decorate my dorm with this year I used last year, or my sister used when she was in college. Aside from that, most of it was pretty cheap and acquired at a show, via a free poster int the mail, or just something I've collected at some point.
To everyone going off to school this year, have fun and happy decorating! I wanna see what your dorms look like.
